One of the things that happen when I am forced to wait is that I have a harder time hiding from myself. When I fill waiting spaces with movement or activity, I can distract myself from myself.  Yet, one of the greatest gifts of waiting spaces is being invited into myself to consider again such questions as: Who am I?  Why am I feeling the way I do?  What is it that is making me bored, frustrated, anxious, or angry? All of  life need not be an internal climb of Mt. Everest! We really can give ourselves a break and relax a bit.  We are already doing more for our own lives and for the world than we might imagine.

In my soul coaching, I routinely have people recount how much they have to do, and how they seem always to be falling behind in some arena of their lives.  The same concern flurries around their spiritual life as well.  The standards we set for ourselves for obtaining spiritual growth are high indeed.
